Prevest Reveal Caries Indicator Dye

Visual differentiation between infected carious dentine & sound, re-mineralizable dentine by its ability to selectively dye the carious dentine. Reveal is a green FD&C dye in a propylene glycol base. Reveal assists the clinician in visual differentiation between the infected carious dentine and sound and re-mineralizable dentine by its ability to selectively dye the carious dentine. Dark green color dye provides strong contrast with both dentine and the pulp. Stains outer infected dentine only. Does not stain uninfected (affected) dentine. Detects caries in difficult to see places.

All cavities were arbitrarily divided into two right and left sections and excavation of the stained areas was performed on the left parts, while the right sections remained untouched. However, detector dyes are not specific to bacteria and can discolor surrounding healthy tissues as dentino-enamel junction or the circumpulpal dentine. Cleaning with a rubber cup applied with slurry of pumice,  was subsequently stored in distilled water at room temperature until use.
