The patented alkaline filler increases the release of hydroxide ions to regulate the pH value during acid attacks.  The uptake of fluoride by the tooth tissue results in a reduction of artificial root surface caries. Therefore, improving the seal at this interface will reduce the need for replacement of restorations.   It also has medical and dental uses.  It can be used on several different dental materials that are curable by light. The liners are thought to protect the living pulp of the tooth from filling materials themselves. And also from their potential to allow more heat or cold through than the natural tooth would.
